From the Archives - Argus Origins

I'm starting to read through the old Argus Singers' minutes since Jean was kind enough to pass on all the historical paperwork she'd collated and archived when I took over from her as secretary :)




So, if we want to "fix a date" for the existence of the Argus Singers we can see that:

• the first minutes were taken in April 1981,
• the name was still under discussion,
• the subs were £1 per annum,
• the concert fee was £10,
• there was £144 in some account 
• the chair was J. Bell
• ... and Ian was on the committee :)

By the next meeting 30th May 1981

• the name The Argus Singers had been adopted [minuted as Argos Singers],
• the choir was "no longer registered as a charitable organisation" - presumably since it was no longer in/part of/linked with the Durham Youth Choir.

... Don't worry I'm not going to report the contents of ALL minutes :)
