We are actively seeking new singers - especially additional tenors and basses.
Our annual subscription is £25 per member: this goes towards rehearsal venue hire and sheet music costs.
The audition
You'll not be asked to audition immediately, you get to experience singing with us for some rehearsals before that happens. That lets you see whether you like the kind of music we do and the choir as a whole. It also lets you see whether you think you will cope with the pace.
This means that most people who audition do so because they feel they'll fit with the choir and get something enjoyment from it.
The audition tends to follow a rehearsal (so your voice will be warmed up!). It is usually with the conductor and the deputy conductor/librarian.
For the audition you are asked to sing something you know and then you go through some scales so your range can be assessed.
Most people pass the audition but it is not a guarantee. On the rare occasion when an individual fails we thank them for their interest but regretfully have to turn them down, which is always disappointing for everyone.
