As a result of the success of our joint venture with Lanchester Brass Band last year we joined them again for a concert at Lanchester Methodist Church.
We performed "All in an April Evening" and "Morte Christe" with them once again as well as our individual pieces: holding your own against the sound of brass in certainly challenging! The band was conducted by Gareth Sykes this year according to the band's website: "Gareth Sykes from plays bass trombone for Grimethorpe Band but, more importantly, lives in County Durham and is our current musical director. He took over the baton in September 2016 and has impressed the band with his good humour, practical experience and deep musicality" The audience seemed to enjoy our "West Side Story" medley and other pieces. Is this now an annual event???
