Christmas Concert, Chester-le-Street Methodist Church

21/12/2014

The choir gave its annual Christmas concert at its "home" venue on 20th December.

As usual we performed a diverse mix of religious and secular, old and new pieces.
To keep us on our toes we had learnt some new pieces this term which were appreciated by the audience.

We had a lovely audience of around 100 who also joined in with some traditional carols and sang with gusto. A fine preparation for Dec 25th!

... Don't forget to put next year's concert in your diaries.

The Argus Singers provided added sparkle to Mrs V. Bolton's Christmas flower arrangements demonstration. She created six fabulous flower arrangements in front of a packed hall, all accompanied by an entertaining commentary from her.
Between each we performed a selection of the following Christmas pieces:
  • Hodie Christmas Natus  Est
  • Christmas Dreams
  • Jesus  Child
  • Stardance Carol
  • Sir  Christemas
  • Christmas Time is Here
  • All on a Stary Night
  • Let it Snow
  • Christmastime on Broadway

On the 14th June we performed at a lovely rural church a few miles from Durham city.
The church was lovely, ...
the audience was lovely, ...
and the performance was lovely!

Last night the Argus Singers gave a very successful concert in the small but beautiful Whitworth Church in the grounds of Whitworth Hall, Spennymoor. Home of Bobby Shaftoe (and many other Shaftoes since).
Below are a couple of (non-concert) pictures taken on the day.
